Yazaki Corporation is a global leader in the development and manufacturing of vehicle power and data solutions, and is continually researching and developing advanced electronic technologies for the automotive sector.
Yazaki produce electrical distribution systems, fibre optics, advanced networking, instrumentation, junction blocks, connector systems, electronics and advanced technology. Yazaki supply automotive components to a number of automotive manufactures both worldwide and also within the UK automotive industry, supplying into such companies as Nissan, Vauxhall and Jaguar among others.
Vantec have worked closely with Yazaki and Nissan since 1993. During this time services have been provided for the handling of Yazaki parts including wiring harnesses and junction blocks. The needs of Yazaki differ from other suppliers in that their parts need to be picked and delivered in a sequence specific to Yazaki, not the FIFO order in which Vantec receive them. Vantec implemented system and process changes to cater for Yazaki's specific requirements.
Vantec receive on average 9 containers per week from Yazaki each containing up to 52 pallets. The product is received, scanned and stored before the parts are picked and sequenced ready for delivery to Nissan. Approximately 1000 boxes are shipped per day over two shifts on hourly time slots.
Vantec also supply decanting services to Yazaki where suitable packaging is not available or if it is deemed to be more cost effective shipping in non-standard packaging and having the parts decanted into Nissan specific packaging at Vantec facility prior to delivery to Nissan.
In 2001 Yazaki gained further business from Nissan in the shape of combi switches for the Primera model, and again Yazaki placed the responsibility for the handling of these parts with Vantec. This demonstrated further the confidence Yazaki have in the quality and efficiency of the services provided by Vantec. |
